Why Choose Us

Cannabis is not a new phenomenon. It has been used and studied throughout time and in many places throughout the world. Truthfully, the US is a late comer to the party, since historically, the open study and use of it has been suppressed under federal laws as of the late 1900’s. However, state governments have acknowledged the public’s interests, and now marijuana is becoming more and more available to citizens, for medical and recreational use.

As the federal government still hasn’t amended US federal laws to declassify cannabis and certain cannabinoids from their schedule one, controlled substance statuses, many people, as well as scientists, have not had much access to the plant. This has burdened research and knowledge and resulted in a plethora of issues regarding consumer safety. However, this is thankfully changing. More and more research labs are being established, and similarly, more and more states that have legalized marijuana are requiring consumer safety testing. This is a major win for the industry and consumers alike because with more knowledge, we can determine more efficient applications.

While scientific cannabis studies and R&D are incredibly important, it is equally as important to have standards for consumer safety. These issues may have less to do with the chemical and biological nature of the plant, and more to do with the production, manufacturing, nutritional labeling, packaging, etc., of those goods. For example, when we buy lettuce, we trust multiple things and take them for granted: 1) lettuce is nutritionally healthy, 2) marketed lettuce doesn’t have E. coli or other microbiological contaminants, and 3) the shelf life of lettuce is accurate, so it’s fresh upon purchase. Similarly, when we purchase other goods, whether it’s a box of cereal or a bottle of pain medication, we trust the nutrient label is accurate and not misleading. Purchases affect our wallets, but also our lifestyles. Specifically, people buy products because of wants and needs, but they may buy specific products or brands due to diet and health concerns, quality, familiarity, allergies, religious reasons, etc., and if the labels aren’t accurate, then it may not just be disappointing but even harmful to the consumer. With any other commodity, many of these issues are mitigated through regulation by the FDA and other federal agencies. Until marijuana is legal under federal laws, these consumer safety issues are left up to the state.

The state of Nevada has also mandated that all products containing THC be tested for consumer safety before hitting the market.  In Nevada, NV Cann is the lab the consumers trust! Aside from never having had its license revoked, NV Cann is the only lab to pass all proficiency tests the first time during the licensing process. NV Cann holds itself to the state standards and above to prioritize consumer safety.
